CBSA Introduces New Removal Cost Framework

๐ณ New Fees Effective April 2025:
๐ฎโโ๏ธ Escorted Removals: $12,800 (previously ~$1,500)
๐ซ Unescorted Removals: $3,800
Individuals removed at the governmentโs expense must repay these costs before applying to return to Canada. This legal requirement ensures compliance and reduces taxpayer burden.
Why this steps are taken?
Fair Process:
All removal orders follow due process, including appeals and procedural fairness under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA).
Strengthening Borders:
This change reflects CBSAโs commitment to improving Canadaโs immigration system and reinforcing Canada-U.S. border security.

Study Permit:
A new study permit is required when transferring to a different Designated Learning Institution (DLI).
