Steinbach Joins the Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP)

The Steinbach Economic Development Corporation (SED) has officially been selected as one of 18 communities across Canada to take part in the Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP) โ€” a program offering a pathway to permanent residency for highly skilled workers choosing to live and work in rural Canada.

๐ŸŽฏ What is RCIP โ€“ Steinbach?
A workforce-focused immigration stream that helps local businesses recruit and retain talent by offering PR to qualified foreign workers.

๐Ÿ“… Key Dates:

  • Employer designation is open now

  • First intake period begins: June 1, 2025

  • Intake window: 1stโ€“15th of each month (or until 7 applications are received)

  • Max 5 recommendations/month, 1 per NOC code, max 2/year per NOC

  • No limits for:

    • 31102 โ€“ General Practitioners

    • 31301 โ€“ Registered Nurses

    • 32101 โ€“ LPNs

    • 33102 โ€“ Nurse aides & orderlies

RCIP โ€“ Cap reached for dine-in restaurants!

On January 31, 2025, the City was selected as one of 18 communities across Canada to participate in the new Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP)โ€”a successor to the RNIP program. This initiative creates a pathway to permanent residence (PR) for skilled workers looking to work and settle in rural communities, while helping local employers address labour shortages.

Applications from this sector will not be accepted if submitted after May 8, 2025.

  • Only employers in the 2025 priority NOC list and the five sectors above are eligible.

  • Designated employers can hire skilled workers through the RCIP program.

  • To become a designated employer:

    1. Visit: https://welcometossm.com/rnip-employers/

    2. Email your request to: [email protected]

    3. Eligible employers will receive:

      • A designation application form

      • Access to mandatory training links

โœ… Note: Only designated employers can submit applications. Once approved, the employer will be listed on the city website and given access to the application portal.
